Jo's January Finish

I have finished the stitching but not the finishing!!  It's a little bit big for an ornie and my son has no use for a pillow finish so I think I'll be scrapbooking it then getting another 12inch box frame for his bedroom so we can swap the designs about.

That means a trip to the craft shop which isn't on the books for a little while yet.  I only get a 20minute break when I'm at work so there's not time to eat a sandwich, drink a coffee AND browse the craft shop!  So it could be half-term before I get there.

Anyway, here's the finished stitching.  Is the wide eyed kitty the cutest thing ever?

It's a freebie from Silver Cute Dwarf's blog.  It's actually quite big and wasn't an easy stitch, there are lots of vertical and horizontal stitches rather than 3/4 fractionals which made counting tricky.  There's alot of stitching hours in this one!

Next month is the cat so there's lots of choices there.  I'll be back on the 1st with my decision.

Lynda's January ornie

Here is my ornament choice for January. It is a design from Lizzie Kate called Eek!, stitched on a piece of linen with the recommended GAST threads. The fabric is actually darker than it looks in this photo. I see that there is a little bit of thread there...we'll just call it part of the a web!

Jo's January Choice

Hello all, this is my introduction to me.

I'm "Jo who can't think of a clever nickname" and I blog at Serendipitous Stitching.  I attempted the Christmas Ornie SAL last year and failed miserably with only one puny finish.  So when I saw the Hallowe'en SAL I looked at the themes, searched through my charts and mags and decided I could actually do a little better at this one.  Let's face it, I couldn't do any worse!

Added to that I have a 10 year old son who loves my Hallowe'en stitching and cats.  So he'll keep me on the staight and narrow this year.

Here's how my choice for January's Pumpkin design looked like when I put it down at the end of November:

It's a freebie from Silver Cute Dwarf

I started stitching in November but it got put aside for Christmas stitching.  This SAL is a great excuse to finish it before October!!

Happy Stitching

Bountiful Kitties finished!

I'm so pleased I finally finished this one.  If I recall correctly, I even have a frame that I bought for it so many years ago.  Now if I can just find it ......

My choice for next month is Scaredy Cat from Blue Ribbon Designs.  I got it from Just Cross Stitch Halloween Collection published in 2011.

Elaine's January ornament Finish

Last night I finished my January ornament. It's from a kit of Halloween Owls on 14 ct plastic canvas. I made several changes on this one. I added the ear tufts from another owl and used the eyes from another owl. If you see my previous pic you can see the difference. I didn't think it looked much like an owl, just a pumpkin. I'm not sure if making the changes made it look anymore like an owl. It kinda looks like a cat, lol! Oh well, the theme this month was pumpkin and it's a pumpkin. I love cats too. :) I did have to do some frogging yesterday morning on it. I messed up twice on the back stitching and had to pull it out. It's really hard to see black back stitching around black stitches!I messed up on the lower eyes (twice??!) and of course had already back stitched around the black on the eyelids. :p

My January Ornie

Hi Everyone,

How much fun is this SAL going to be?  Thanks, Elaine for organising it and also the Christmas SAL which I am also participating in. I am going great guns on Halloween so far now!

My name is Kaye (or Kaisievic on the net sometimes) and my blog is Kitten Stitching, please come by and visit with me a while when you get the chance.  I am a fifty something educational book publisher (mainly of History books) and I live in the gorgeous leafy suburb of Eaglemont in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia with TraderVic (DH), my two youngest Dchildren and my DFIL.  I have been on blogger about 18 months now and have found that I have become quite addicted to it although I try hard not to let it get in the way of my other addictions passions, which are, of course, cross stitch, reading, travel, my family..... You get the picture.

I chose this cute design from Glory Bee featuring a pumpkin from the 2012 JCS Halloween mag.

... and here is my progress so far:

I am using my own fabric - 32 ct overdyed Cocoa linen and I am substituting the Gentle Arts Sampler Threads with mainly Weeks Dye Works as they are the colours which I have!  I am pleased with my progress so far - this is what I managed to stitch in just one day and that was with an awful lot going on in the home yesterday (tradesmen on my doorstep at 7 am to install a new air conditioner - thank goodness as it was 41 (106 F) degrees yesterday! then the new dishwasher had to be installed and on it went!)
hugs,

January's Pumpkins (with crows, bats, a full moon and 3 black cats)

Hello all!  My name is Marcy and I'm so happy to participate in this SAL (thanks for organizing it Lainey!).

I love stitching Halloween things -- Autumn is one of my favorite seasons.  My first ornament is a Mill Hill kit called Bountiful Kitties.  I'm going to cheat a little for January because I've had this started for probably three years now but never seem to get it finished.  This is the first (and probably the last) time I stitched on paper and, quite frankly, I don't like it.   If I were to do another of these kits, I would stitch on fabric instead.  However, I hate to not finish this one because I like it so much -- it's just too cute.  And so I'm going to take this opportunity to finally finish(!) it.

I look forward to seeing some fun Halloween ornaments and getting to know everyone.

Elaine's January Ornament

Hi, I'm Elaine. (the other one. I also go by Lainey but since we have one here, I will use Elaine. :) I live in southern Wisconsin and have been married for 32 years. I have 3 grown kids (2 daughters, 1 son), 2 sons-in law and a grandson. I have been stitching forever. Right now I have a couple of Heaven and Earth Designs going (and a million other pieces!). It's my first time with something that big. I definitely need some smaller things to take a break with. Lainey's SALs were the perfect thing! I always plan on stitching ornaments and usually never get much done. I''m hoping to do all 12 months of both the Halloween and Christmas SAL.I know Lainey and Katie but I'm not sure who else. It will be nice to make some new friends. :) I have a blog here if anyone is interested. It has lots of stitching and other stuff.

For January's pumpkin theme I have chosen a pumpkin owl. It's part of a Halloween owl plastic canvas kit I bought last year. I only managed to stitch one of the owls so I will be doing a few more for this SAL. It's done on 14 ct plastic canvas with floss. To me this one doesn't look much like an owl so I think I may stitch his ear tufts coming out the top of the pumpkin. We'll see how that goes. :)
