Jo's Excuse for not stitching an October Ornie!

I have fallen behind the last couple of months for a variety of reasons.  Here is this month's excuse:

He is Drac-in-a-Box from Just Cross Stitch's Hallowe'en Ornie Special 2013.

Designed by Susan Myers of Acorn House Designs.

I stitched him on 32 count Permin Linen in Star Sapphire. This is a very stiff linen so ideal for covering the box panels.  His body and arms were stitched on black evenweave so I did not have to stitch all the black myself!!

He was quite a challenge to make up, partly due to JCS deciding not to publish Susan's helpful diagram which showed how to make up the body.  Once I'd done the little figure, the box itself was quite straightforward.  As with everything, preparation is all important.  Spend the time backstitching round each panel, take time mounting the panels onto card and the whip-stitching is that much more simple.

I'll be posting some more pictures on my own blog but here is one of the back of the piece:

Nothing new for Sept :(

I'm sorry to say, I didn't get a September ornie stitched but I did manage to get a couple of my other ones finished into ornaments:

I'm so pleased I got so many new Halloween ornies because of this SAL.  I'm not sure if I'll get any more stitched before the end of the year but I plan on getting them all turned into ornaments.  Christmas is fast approaching and though I'm not as far behind as last year, I've got a bit of work to do yet.

Happy Halloween everyone!
